Book Cover Design Update

Well, I heard back from the publisher late tonight (Friday, September 24th) with a proposed cover design for Reaching the Next Level, and...

It is AWESOME! I think the Lord truly led in the design the publisher proposed. It's everything I was envisioning and more. I've asked him when it will be okay for me to post it to my blog, and I'm waiting to hear back from him. I know there are a couple of tweaks I'll need to make to the cover in terms of wording so I may need to wait a little longer before it's released. But I'm so excited to share it!

Thanks again to all of you who took the time to share your thoughts with me. I think you're going to love it as well. As soon as I get permission to post it to my blog, I'll be sure to do it. Okay, praise be to the Lord for His direction in this journey! Blessings...

More Book Cover Ideas

Okay, I received some great ideas and feedback about the book cover design for Reaching the Next Level. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to share your creative and insightful thoughts! Below are a few more images that I'm thinking of in light of your insights...

While I couldn't find any specific images of stairs with "feet" on them nor with climbers reaching towards one another, I did find these images below of stairs, people and stairs, climbers, reachers, etc. Of course, I'll be sending along images to the publisher with my thoughts, and a completely different cover may be designed from "scratch" along the lines of my thoughts. Any more comments? I would love to hear them! Blessings...

Anyone Got an Idea for a Book Cover Design?

Hello everybody! I've got an update on my first book scheduled to release in the next couple of months, and I would love your helpful input. I'm working with the publisher now on the cover design. Obviously, the image on the cover of a book is the first "impression" of the resource, and it must convey its message in a clear and compelling way. (For my first blog on the book, see my post dated 6/18/10 entitled First Book to Release in September!) Below is a brief description of the book which may appear on the back cover and some ideas I'm working with:

"Do you want to take your spiritual life to the next level? Do you long to know God’s Word better but don’t know how to study or apply its truth? Do you struggle with receiving God’s forgiveness and moving past your failures? Do you desire to connect with others in the Body of Christ and to serve them effectively? Do you want to help others throughout the world become more faithful and fruitful in their walk with Christ?

"If these questions describe the passion of your heart, Reaching the Next Level is just for you! This practical resource answers all of these questions and more. Whether you’re a new Believer or a 'seasoned veteran' in Christ, Reaching the Next Level will guide you on an exciting journey of discovery. You’ll learn practical ways to partner with others for spiritual growth, to experience the power of God’s life-transforming grace, and to practice six spiritual disciplines in your daily life."

Clearly the cover design needs to communicate the idea(s) of surging forward, moving ahead, transformation, climbing upward, etc. Here are some of the types of images I'm thinking of:

The way this process will work is that I'll be forwarding my thoughts and ideas to the publisher over the next couple of days, and he'll work on putting together some cover design options from which I'll need to select and approve one.

Well, what do you think? I would love your "vote" on any of the above images/ideas or any other suggestions you have. You can register your "vote" and thoughts by posting a comment to this blog. I'm not promising which direction I'll go. In fact, I'm not even sure if any of these images above could work because of copyright issues (these images are from Microsoft online free clipart). But I do believe what Proverbs 15:22 says: "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed."

Okay, thanks in advance for your help and insights. I look forward to hearing from you for some excellent ideas and thoughts! Blessings...
